Re: “Science Building and Cool School Air on Way”

After announcing that a long-anticipated Science Building and an air conditioning system for every campus in the School District will be launched much earlier than planned, Asst. Supt. Mike Reynolds dipped into details.

Speaking of parting with tradition, don’t look for clouds of dust and noisy machinery  when the Science Building – for Culver City High School and for the Middle School – comes together.

Mr. Reynolds explains:

“We presently want to do the type of Science Building that is delivered and installed. From Day One, we have been looking at the type of building that is fabricated off-site, then brought in, installed and finished on-site.”

It is on the order of residential projects that oldtimers in the last century used to call pre-fab homes.

“Essentially,” said Mr. Reynolds, “it is made out of concrete. It has a lifespan that is very, very long. Primarily it will include science labs and science classrooms that will be fully equipped.”

The precise proportions “still are being discussed.”

Six or eight classrooms currently are planned.

“Depends on how you configure,” Mr. Reynolds said.
