Dateline Dayton – Last week I started to write an essay about the election. However, my computer had other thoughts. It went out of commission.

Later the same day, I left for Illinois, for the Cash Register Collectors Club swap meet and meeting.

After replacing the power source, the computer is working again.

My essay would have started out about the election. I was writing early Tuesday evening, and I had Hillary winning.

Disappointed, I was in for a real surprise when the election results started coming.

I must admit, as I have mentioned in prior essays, I was not a Trump supporter. I did not vote for him. I wrote in the governor of Ohio, John Kasich, for president. I was so surprised that my wife did not vote for Hillary. She chose instead to pass up voting for any candidate.

My feeling is, people are fed up with what goes on in Washington. They believe Mr. Trump might make changes for the better, which I also believe. I realize he is only one person, and it’s going to take many to clean up the mess we have in the nation’s Capitol.

Now that he’s elected, we must get behind him, no matter who we voted for, or didn’t vote for, no matter if we call yourself a Republican or a Democrat, if we really want to see change in our government.

Protestors in the streets probably are the people Mr. Trump spoke about during the campaign, those needing to be deported, along with some professional athletes.

Our election system might not be perfect, but it is how the president of our republic is elected. The process was followed, Donald Trump won. That must be accepted. Work for change. Don’t waste your time injuring people and destroying property.

Home Sweet Home

I have written about the condo unit we were purchasing for our daughter. Due to disconnecting the washer, the unit received substantial water damage. The problem was resolved, but I insisted on a mold test that did not produce satisfactory results. W

work was being done to correct the problem but I did like the way they were proceeding. I wanted out of the contract.

The mortgage company I was working with didn’t approve my loan request, which I thought was a mistake. In this case, though, it worked to my advantage by providing me the opportunity to get out of the contract. .

We have located another condo, which has been inspected and appraised, passing both those obstacles. I am working with a new mortgage company and have received conditional approval, subject to supplying them with a ton of paperwork. This I find frustrating. Like government, I believe they work by the pound.

The owner, who has moved, is being cooperative, allowing us access to the unit to take care of a few maintenance items I would like to accomplish before our daughter moves in.

Additionally, he has allowed us to store items in the garage. Thus she’s able to bring things here this week when she comes for a class get-together and next week for Thanksgiving.

Next week I will share more about the condo, as our daughter and her family will see it for the first time Friday.

Happy Thanksgiving.
