West Los Angeles College is offering summer programs for children and youth this summer including a new Career Discovery Academy that is free.

It will be directed at students entering grades 8 through 12.

Sessions are two or three weeks long.

They include computer science/robotics, science, healthcare, business/ entrepreneurism, film production and preparing for the first job.

There also are math/English /Study Skills Boot Camp and Saturday-only computer courses.

Enrollment is open for the session start dates of June 13, June 27, July 11 and July 25. Students may enroll in more than one session.

They should plan to attend a brief orientation session on Tuesday evening. See www.WLAC.edu/High-School/Index.aspx.

For graduating high school seniors and those who have left high school in the last year or two, West offers a Summer Bridge program to facilitate a successful transition into college.

For the Kindergarten through eighth grade set, fee-based classes and camps continue to be offered through Westside Extension – including art, Spanish, robotics and engineering, coding and video game design, seven different sports, cheerleading and dance, aquatics, medicine, tools for school, and MEGA Camp (academics plus field trips).
