Why GOP Usually Loses

Fellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans,

Both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate supposedly are controlled by Republicans. Yet the Democratic Party regularly hoodwinks them into voting for far-left legislation.

Why?

Today I encountered a Veteran who is an admitted far-left Democrat. He laughed and said “I see the Republicans are voting to pass the bill you are strongly opposed to that will make all those illegal land uses at the VA legal.”

I explained that the bill — H.R.3484; Los Angeles Homeless Veterans Leasing Act of 2015″ — was co-authored by U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu and Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Both are far-left liberal/progressive/ socialist Democrats.

He laughed. “Precisely,” he said. “And the Republicans are voting in full support of their bill.”

That is how spineless Republicans have surrendered control.

Let there be no misunderstanding: This legislation is a scam that will convert nine VA real estate deals that were adjudicated in federal court as “unauthorized by law and therefore void.” It will make them legal with enhanced use leases” that will still serve non-Veterans.

The nine privately finagled real estate deals all are with non-Veteran special interest entities. They occupy VA property and include the UCLA baseball diamond, private Brentwood School athletic complex, a public park by a local wealthy homeowner group operating under the ruse of Veterans Park Conservancy, which is not a Veterans organization.
Sen. Feinstein and her husband, billionaire real estate mogul Richard C. Blum (he’s also on University of California Board of Regents) manipulated these unlawful leases. UCLA paid only $500 per acre per month on 10 acres and the homeowner public park deal is rent free for 16 acres.

In sum, these 26 acres generate $19 per acre per month on VA property valued at more than a billion dollars within one of the most valuable real estate holdings in the USA.

Instead of housing disabled and homeless Veterans, in accordance with the Deed of 1888, this illegal use of VA/Veteran land is now a fiefdom for the wealthy.

For years, Los Angeles has been our nation’s capital for homeless Veterans and it’s because of the illegal use of this sacred land.

Now Sen. Feinstein and Congressman Lieu are trying to ramrod this bill through the Senate for final approval before Memorial Day to avoid the California June 7 primary election. Passage would eliminate possible debates with Republican candidates who opposing Democrat Lieu.

This bill must be blocked or delayed until after the election and a new 2017 Congress is installed.

It will require the action of responsible pro-Veteran Republicans, if there are any.

This is not a homeless act. The word appears only once in the bill aside from it being in the title: ”Los Angeles Homeless Veterans Leasing Act of 2015.”

This is a counterfeit leasing bill to make nine illegal real estate deals at the Los Angeles VA legal.

Blame also rests on Steve Mackey, California president of Vietnam Veterans of America, and Lawrence Van Kuran, California Commander of the American Legion.

Both profess to be staunch Republicans, yet both are rock-solid, staunch supporters of Sen. Feinstein and Rep. Lieu.
