Mr. Wyant

Following yesterday’s brain surgery, Scott Wyant, recent City Council candidate, this morning sent a message to Culver City voters:

“Good thing you all didn’t elect me this time.

“I really would not have been ready.

“But I am not going away,” said Mr. Wyant, who declared for the Council race in ‘18 just days after finishing fifth in this month’s race.

“I am not disengaging.

“I love this city,” said the Planning Commissioner from his bed at UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Hospital, where he has been since last Friday.

“We are going to continue to work to keep Culver City the best community in Southern California.”

Even from the hospital, he is keeping pace with the hometown news.

“I encourage everyone to read and take heart from Andy Weissman’s speech Monday night (“Council Civility, the Main Weissman Legacy” – 26 April).

“Andy put his finger precisely on all of the good things we have been accomplishing and the dangers we face if we let ideology and anger overrun our decision-making.

“We live in the 21st century,” Mr. Wyant said.

“It would be great if we continue on the course we have set,” the commissioner said in ICU after his extraordinarily delicate operation.

Perhaps he most effectively lassoed Mr. Weissman’s stirring farewell when he observed:

“There were more subtleties than that in Andy’s speech. It was a great roadmap and history lesson.”
