Just in time for Christmas in the Fiji Islands, counting for the April 12 City Council election has been completed ahead of this evening’s swearing-in of the three winners.
Nothing changed from earlier rounds of tabulating the votes the seven candidates attracted.
After the last 238 votes were counted by City Clerk Martin Cole’s canvassing board, one member sneezed.
This was the only change from the two previous attempts to count the well-timed and poorly timed mail ballots.
For those who track semi-interesting information, more than half of the ballots — 8,460 of 14,228 — were cast by mail.
Which probably means nothing for the immediate future.
Here is how the seven crossed the finish line.
- Meghan Sahli-Wells 3,794
- Thomas Small 2,418
- Goran Eriksson 2,186
- Daniel Lee 1,944
- Scott Wyant 1,745
- Marcus Tiggs 1,478
- Jay Garocochea 768
