Fellow Americans,
Yesterday’s date, Feb. 23, had historic significance of strength in America, as well weakness.
71 Years Ago: “Marines Raise the U.S. Flag at Iwo Jima” ABC
This heroic feat by courageous American Marines is a constant reminder of the strength of America’s will to win World War II and to consistently protect and defend America’s unparalleled way of life.
One Year Ago: “VA Secretary Robert McDonald Apologizes for Misstating Military Record” – NBC News
In contrast to the honor and heroics of our military at Iwo Jima, lying about his own military service showed extreme weakness for the entrusted leadership of Robert A. McDonald to oversee the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and honorably serve our men and women who pledged their lives to protect our Constitution and the American flag.
Last year, Michael Helm, then national commander of the American Legion, responded to the Secretary’s falsified military exaggeration by proclaiming: “A lie is a lie.”
Former Comdr. Helm went on to declare: “I can’t believe people do this. What a disappointment from the leader of a department whose No. 1 issue is the restoration of trust.”
Robert A. McDonald is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. As a cadet, he took an oath to uphold the Cadet Honor Code: “A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
It is important to know that Dale Barnett, the current national commander of the American Legion, is a graduate of West Point.
I never have never met Cmdr. Barnett, but we both grew up in central Indiana, 15 miles apart.
Honest Abe Lincoln’s formative youth was ingrained in southern Indiana.
The American Legion headquarters is in Indianapolis.
With his own wholesome Hoosier roots molding his future toward a West Point degree, I feel confident that Dale Barnett is a man of strict allegiance to his Cadet’s Honor Code and continues to exemplify the values of the military academy’s revered creed of “Duty, Honor, Country.”
Yesterday, Cmdr. Barnett published an article:
“It’s Time for Accountability to Veterans”
He also held a …
Today Cmdr. Barnett was to carry his message of accountability to a joint session of the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs’ Committees.
Question: Will Cmdr. Barnett challenge the accountability and veracity of Robert A. McDonald and question how he could vacate a federal Judgment that adjudicated nine illegal – non-Veteran — VA real estate deals that forced thousands of impoverished Veterans to live homeless and hungry at Skid Row?
Will Cmdr. Barnett challenge Congressman Jeff Miller, fellow Veteran and chairman of the VA Oversight Committee, as to why he could support this most corrupt land heist in American history?
Will Cmdr. Barnett challenge both the Congress and the VA, as well as his own American Legion’s accountability to respecting the flag and explain how they can allow VA police to issue criminal citations to Veterans and patriots who display our nation’s colors on VA property in honor of the men and women who have defended America’s freedom?
Does Dale Barnett really believe that the American flag is our international symbol of “Liberty and Justice for All?” Or does he believe that it is nothing more than “a placard, pamphlet, handbill, and/or a flyer”?
Seventy-one years ago, brave U.S. Marines raised the American flag at Iwo Jima that exemplified our strength and courage as a nation.
One year ago, Robert A. McDonald lied about his military service, a disgrace.
Yesterday’s date is significantly historic in that it showed both strength and weakness in our military heritage.
God Bless America and the Veterans Revolution!
