[Editor’s Note: Mr. Lee is a candidate in the April 12 City Council election.]

Let’s keep the momentum going.

Many thanks to every one of the 70-plus persons who made it out to our City Council campaign kickoff last week at the home of School Board member Dr. Kelly Kent.

During our event, we found out that the campaign has garnered the endorsement of former School Board member Nancy Goldberg.

There still is loads of work to be done.

Earlier I met with state Sen. Holly Mitchell (D-Culver City/Crenshaw District). She did not say whether she would endorse.

But she did donate $1, 000 to our campaign. This donation will go a long way towards funding the mailers, yard signs and flyers our campaign needs to distribute all over town in order for us to win.

If you did not have a chance to donate at our campaign kickoff, you can do so here.

If you already donated our FPPC number is 1382120 for your records.

On Saturday, Feb. 13, our campaign will be tentatively having our major fundraiser at the Mayme Clayton Museum, 4130 Overland Ave., Culver City, from 6 to 9 p.m. My friend and Grammy-nominated recording artist Aloe Blacc has agreed to perform at the event. You may know him from his songs “I Need a Dollar,” or “The Man.” He recently performed at the White House for their holiday celebration.

If you would like to help organize or publicize the event, email elect@danielwaynelee.com

Lastly, at tonight’s 7 o’clock City Council meeting, Council members will consider authorizing the creation of a sustainable city plan and a green business certification program. These are two steps on the road toward making Culver City a more resilient and sustainable city for us all.  If you can make it, please do.
