Re: “Introducing a Likeable New Entry in Council Race”
City Council candidate Daniel Lee, a newcomer to Culver City politics, said newcomer Dr. Kelly Kent’s longshot victory in November’s School Board election, “made me think I have a real possibility of winning now.
Dr. Kent prevailed with the powerhouse backing of the liberal coalition of Culver City, most commonly identified as led by former City Councilman Gary Silbiger and friends.
“Her success,” said Mr. Lee, “motivated me to try and make connections with people who have been very involved with Culver City politics their entire lives, and to try and energize people who have lived here a very long time and are not involved.”
Mr. Lee, a 13-year resident, said “the essence of me as a candidate is that I am very straight forward, I am empathetic, and my main concerns really are the environment, fairness and accountability.
“I feel as if most of the candidates for City Council, thankfully, are concerned about the environment, the Inglewood Oil Field and how that could negatively affect residents of Culver City.”
