Talk about signs of the times.

Sign language.

Obeying the law.

When you go driving, or more accurately parking, in Culver City, leave early for your destination.

Especially in mid-town.

Bring an extra cup of coffee.

Your reading glasses.

Plenty of gas.

Oh, yes, and a bookmark so you remember where you were when you became fatigued from reading.

You would think one of the artistic types at City Hall could produce a color scheme superior to the un-eye-catching combination of drab, drabber and drabbest at the intersection of Vinton Street and Braddock Drive.

Easy cases of justification can be made for the first three signs, none for the immensely unnecessary bottom piece.

  • Street-cleaning times are a must-post.
  • Ditto daytime parking regulations.
  • Double-ditto for evening and overnight parking.

But the City Hall lexiconic mechanic who authorized the “warning” sign that not only are there after-dark regs, but by golly they even are in effect – he stepped over the line into foul territory.
