Culver City High School’s basketball team evened their record at 3-3 after beating Grand Terrance 72-66 last Tuesday in the Inland Empire Classic.
The Centaurs had lost their Classic opener to East Valley Redlands last Saturday.
After the holiday tournaments, Culver City returns home to play Torrance on Monday, Jan. 4, at 7:30. When they complete the Inland Classic, the Centaurs move on to a San Gabriel tournament, which they won a year ago.
The Grand Terrace game was the Centaurs’ best offensive display. “We really played aggressively on offense,” said Coach Adam Eskridge. He commended his players for sharing the ball the way he has been teaching them to do.
Isaiah Benson scored 18 points in the win and Anthony Wheatle had 14.
The coach knows what comes next. “We are searching for a little more consistency,” said Eskridge. “We have some good stretches and then some poor ones.”
He said the Centaurs moving closer to successfully stringing together four straight complete quarters.
