Re: “Wyant Eager to Answer the ‘Why’ Question”

Scott Wyant is convinced that after 25 years, this is the right year to run for the City Council.

“The first part of the time that I lived here, we were so busy raising a family, starting careers and I was finishing my graduate degree that I didn’t think much about all this stuff that was going on in the city,” Mr. Wyant said.

“When I realized it, though, I started volunteering at the schools, and then I volunteered with the Braddock Drive traffic-calming program many years ago. Then I volunteered for the Education Foundation. Then I decided to run for the Planning Commission.”

Mr. Wyant said that the more involved he became, “the more I realized how much there was to running the city. I actually liked it.”

This will explain why the tall blond-haired tech entrepreneur will find himself a showcase of attention Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock when his campaign formally becomes airborne at the home of Jim and Diana Solomon, 11020 Lindblade St.

Mr. Wyant may sound like a wonk, but he firmly insists he is not.

“I like the process,” he says. “I like the idea of sitting around with other people who are committed and who love the city and who may have different opinions than I do.

“I like the idea of working toward a common goal, even though our agreements may be less obvious than our disagreements.”

To his supporters, Mr. Wyant’s assessment sounds like a man fit and ready for the City Council.
