[Editor’s Note: The next candidates’ forum for the three contenders in the Nov. 3 School Board election will be this evening. The League of Women Voters, led by Frances Talbott White, will question Anne Burke, Prof. Kelly Kent and Scott McVarish at 7 o’clock in Council Chambers. Julie Lugo Cerra, city historian and former Board member, will serve as moderator.]
Friends,
Culver City Federation of Teachers members interviewed the three candidates for School Board on Tuesday, and they have voted to endorse Prof. Kelly Kent and Anne Burke.
Both are activist parents who, in our view, are the best candidates to replace outgoing School Board members Nancy Goldberg and Laura Chardiet.
Both candidates voiced clear support for the labor/management partnership that has helped improve morale (and compensation!) over the past few years in the School District.
In the past, we have run campaigns on behalf of our endorsed candidates with newspaper ads, direct mail pieces and phone-banking.
We will not be doing that this year but we do encourage interested teachers to contact those campaigns directly and volunteer.
Thanks in advance for volunteering.
Thanks also to those who stayed late Tuesday night in what was an interesting and productive interview and endorsement process.
