Fellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans,

The ACLU lawsuit recently confirmed what we already knew – the biggest land fraud scandal in American history took place inside the largest VA facility in the nation, the Los Angeles VA. Vietnam Veterans of America is a plaintiff in this ACLU lawsuit against the VA.

The biggest land fraud scandal in American history is being challenged by the biggest Flag fraud scandal in American history. It is taking place directly outside this same VA as the “Veterans Grand Old Flag Memorial” was hijacked and stolen away from Vietnam Veterans of America, Region 9, by the Third District County Supervisor, Zev Yaroslavsky, in cooperation with the County Dept. of Public Works, AAA Flag & Banner, and California Veterans Benefit Fund, a rogue non-profit group operating out of Northern California,

Under the “supervision” of Mr. Yaroslavsky, the above cabal maliciously trashed this Flag memorial where Veterans are trying to heal from defending our American Flag.

They have made a mockery of all Veterans by replacing the American Flag at the entryway into Brentwood with the “Screen Actors Guild Award,” banners, i.e., encompassing the likes of Stallone, Schwartzenegger, Spielberg, et al, (all non-Veterans) who made billions imitating Veterans. Stallone infamously stigmatized Vietnam War Veterans with his fictionalized “Rambo-crazed” character.

Thirty-eight years after the Vietnam War, 47 percent of all homeless Veterans today are of the Vietnam War while Rambo Stallone lives safely and comfortably in a luxurious multi-million dollar mansion.

We were particularly proud to have Vietnam Veterans of America, Region 9, as the presenting sponsor, considering how badly Veterans of that war were treated by our own government and citizenry. This memorial was to be a benevolent token of graciousness by a generation of Veterans who gave so much of themselves for our country, yet were brutally mistreated when they returned “home.” Many still live in homelessness.

Now the Flag memorial presented by Vietnam Veterans of America, Region 9, has been stolen and given to a cabal of ingrates and cowardly misfits.

When will the war against Vietnam War Veterans ever end?

See the attached pictorial overview of the dedication ceremony, and Vietnam Veterans of America, Region 9, is the presenting sponsor. Remember, Vietnam Veterans of America, as a national Veterans service organization, is one of the chief plaintiffs in the ACLU lawsuit.

Under the supervision of Mr. Yaroslavsky, three sets of American Flags were replaced at the entryway into Brentwood, as noted above. Mr. Schwarzenegger, Mr. Stallone and Mr. Spielberg live in Brentwood. All have children who attended the wealthy private Brentwood School, which has a 21-acre lease on Veterans property and is part of the infamous land fraud scandal.

Make no mistake, this is where the aforementioned cabal's loyalty really is …. to the wealth and power of the entertainment industry, not the American Flag or to those who have defended It, particularly not Vietnam War Veterans.

Supervisor Yaroslavsky is not a Veteran. He is a graduate of UCLA, which has a seven-acre sweetheart deal with the VA for a state-of-the-art baseball stadium on Veterans property. This is also part of the biggest land-fraud scam in American history.

Supervisor Yaroslavsky proclaimed that only the American Flag would hang from these lamp posts. Yet he refused to replace the American Flags that fell down. Instead, he allowed his rich friends at the Screen Actors Guild to put up their banners, a serious affront to every man and woman who has ever worn the uniform of this great nation and defended our Flag!

David Bishcoff, a decorated Vietnam War combat Veteran (two Bronze Stars with Valor and two Purple Hearts), proudly holds the American Flag in defiance of the Screen Actors Guild banner, while Aldo Dipre (in a wheelchair) a 94-year old disabled World War II Veteran, holds a sign protesting the land fraud on the other side of this pretentious wrought iron fence built with Veterans’ healthcare money to “beautify” the entryway into Brentwood.

Instead of Vietnam Veterans of America, Region 9, maintaining its original honorable status of the presenting sponsor, this noble Flag memorial project has been stolen by, among others, the Veterans Park Conservancy, a wealthy Brentwood homeowner group operating under the ruse of a Veterans organization and one of nine non-Veteran organizations that have an illegal agreement with the VA. Theirs is to build a “rent-free” 16-acre public park “for the enjoyment of the entire community” while 20,000 disabled. homeless Veterans are forced to live hungry in back-alley squalor.

A U.S. District Judge recently issued a judgment against the VA, ruling that nine of their real estate dealings are “unauthorized by law, and therefore void.”

The VA, along with UCLA and Brentwood School, shamefully is appealing this verdict, even though U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman wrote letter to Gen. Eric K. Shinseki, VA Secretary, requesting that the VA not waste more taxpayer money, but instead spend the resources providing necessary housing and care for disabled, homeless Veterans.

While the VA land fraud scandal continues, the County and its cabal have expanded their deed by misusing the Veterans Grand Old Flag Memorial that was dedicated to all Veterans of all wars throughout American history.

The memorial was initiated, organized, funding-coordinated, installation-coordinated, and the 100 Flag Project dedicated through the leadership of the Old Veterans Guard, which also selected Vietnam Veterans America, Region 9, to be the presenting sponsor.

The Metabolic Studio, a philanthropic arm of the Annenberg Foundation, provided the initial funding.

AAA Flag & Banner installed the Flags, even though they charged $200 for a permit and never obtained one.

Under the supervision of Mr. Yaroslavsky, an “after-the-fact” permit was finagled and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Region 9, was eliminated. They were replaced by a renegade non-profit group in Northern California, 500 miles away. They've never seen this project. They had nothing to do with the initiation, organization, installation and dedication of the Flag Memorial.

In the permit, County Public Works agreed to monitor and replace the Flags as needed. Recently, they determined it would cost $5,000 to replace 18 American Flags, nearly half the cost to install the original 100 Flags.

The Old Veterans Guard was asked to pay for it. An ad hoc team of elderly Veterans, the Old Veterans Guard funds their causes out of their own meager pockets.

The County has a $25 billion budget. Supervisor Yaroslavsky has a personal $3.5 million discretionary fund from the County. He refuses to tap into it for this cause). The VA has nearly a billion-dollar budget. Veterans Park Conservancy has billionaires in their membership. Veterans California Benefit Fund is flush with public donations and grants. Yet none has any money even though their names are on the “after-the-fact” permit and/or make claims of ownership to this Flag memorial via Internet websites.

Think about it. These wealthy persons cannot scrabble together $5,000 to maintain the Veterans Grand Old Flag Memorial that they all claim “ownership” to … so they have to call on the Old Veterans Guard to bail them out.

The foregoing is true. The best screen writers could not dream this up.

Perhaps one day an honest movie producer will deliver the truth because we already have the script.

Keep up the good fight against the bad guys.

Stop the VA land fraud and stop the American Flag fraud.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and have a blessed new year.
