Everyone is getting ready for the holidays.  Chanukah is done, and we are on to Christmas.  I am sure each one of you is figuring out who is on your list and what to buy them.

I suggest each Culver City resident or worker fortunate enough to have a list and money, to think about adding a contribution to feed the children of Culver City.

Many residents do not know that children in Culver City go to school hungry.  They may be able to get a subsidized breakfast and lunch at the school during the week, or they may not.

But what about the weekends?  What about the holidays?  These children are the children of all of us, and we should make sure they have food.  Plain and simple.

This year, add the children to your gift list – a gift of $100 or so to the Culver City PTA’s Backpack food program will help feed these kids on the weekends.

Make your check payable to the CCPTA, 4034 Irving Pl., Culver City, CA 90232, to the attention of Josie Campos. On the Memo line, note “weekend food for our kids.”  They will know what you want to do with that money!

For more information on the program, you can email Leslie Gardner at

I am merely the messenger.

This would be a good start in our quest to improve the lives of these and all kids.  And the good news is, you can keep giving all year long!
