Election Reflection

I went to my local polling place yesterday only to discover I was not on the voters' roll.

I was only two blocks, as the crow flies, from my humble place of refuge from this ever-maddening world. This had to be the place.

There is no way that I could not be in the right polling place.

I googled!

Understanding that I was confused, the wonderful poll volunteer took me over to a map and pointed out to me that the correct polling place where I should be was actually one block away from my aforementioned lair, which was only a stone’s throw away.

The right thing to do was to go back the block I just came, and vote at the correct place where I was registered, or cast a provisional ballot (per the lovely poll volunteer Leslie’s suggestion) and be on my way to the beach on this appropriately hot Election Day. I just wanted this election to be finished.

I have had enough!

All the propositions, accusations and the gall to turn California into a legal reefer nation, have really got to me.

You know what that means.

After all is said and done
The votes all tallied
And the pundits have punned

The fear that bonds hands, its need to survive
With the aspirations of power comes the will to divide

We march behind the curtain our conscious our prod
Then leave with a sticker as a receipt to the fraud.

The election cycles seem to be non-stop.

Wasn’t it just yesterday we were voting for “change”?

Now that that joke has lost all of its jocularity, here we are ready to start the insanity all over again.

What is next? Lint?
