SACRAMENTO — A bi-partisan pro business measure jointly authored by state Sen. Curren D. Price, Jr. (D-Culver City) and Sen. Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) was signed last week by Gov. Schwarzenegger.

Sen. Price said Senate Bill 1155 streamlines California’s Capital Access Company Law to make it easier for small businesses to access capital for expansion. He maintains the complexity of current law has prevented companies from taking advantage of it.

“Fortunately, now we have legislation that will help small businesses obtain the resources they desperately need to keep their doors open and prosper,” said Sen. Price.

Both legislators hailed the bill as a step in the right direction to help small businesses create jobs in California, which has the fourth highest unemployment rate in the nation.

“This is another tool that will allow small business in California the opportunity to be successful,” Sen. Dutton said. “This Legislature must continue to work hard towards lifting the burdens that keep many private businesses from being successful. It’s gratifying when my Democrat colleagues join me in that effort, and I applaud Sen. Price for his help in getting this measure through the Senate.”

Sen. Price is up for re-election on Nov. 2, running against Rabbi Nachum Shifren, and in quest of his first full two-year term in the Senate.
