With a deadline staring at them, City Manager John Nachbar said that Culver City will file a lawsuit against West Los Angeles College today, attempting to block the school from starting a major construction program.
The suit, “seeking injunctive relief,” will cite perceived violations of the California Environmental Quality Act contained in an environmental impact report for the construction project approved on Aug. 11 by L.A. Community College District Trustees. Following a 3½-hour meeting on Wednesday afternoon between the parties that failed to bring agreement, Mr. Nachbar said, “We remain hopeful of a resolution.”
No new meetings are scheduled.
After the trustees’ lopsided approval of the EIR, City Hall had 30 days, by law, to sue.
