Re “Solutions for Downtown’s So-Called Parking Spaces Scarcity

I read your piece and had to add my two cents worth.

Parking is not a problem only in Downtown Culver City. To protect ourselves from customer parking at the nearby businesses, my neighborhood obtained “Permit Parking” from Culver City several years ago.

As Culver City Police Dept. resources became leaner, enforcement of that parking zone became more infrequent. As I recall, we are already paying a “nominal fee” for residential parking permits AND a charge for replacement visitor/guest paper permits.

This evening my neighbor called at 8:05 to request enforcement of the parking zone; and, I called at 8:09.

As of 9:43, CCPD had not sent a unit to cite the several cars parked without permits. That is money not being collected!

Almost daily there are cars speeding through my neighborhood, rolling though the stop signs if they stop at all. We need CCPD to have the resources and mandate to enforce traffic regulations.

Look at the new technologies available so human resources can be maximized.

I avoid Downtown Culver City like the plague because of experiences such as finding that the parking structures open 30 minutes after the start of early movies on the weekends or being stuck in a line to get out of the structure that was so long we were charged for parking!

I put pictures of the vehicles parked tonight at:
