Mean-spirited L.A. City Council Slaps Arizona in Its Economic Face

Mayor I Love Me has just scored a smashing victory.

Blithely dashing across the Ignorance Line first, the Los Angeles City Council this morning voted 13 to 1 — thank you, Greig Smith — to prohibit City Hall from conducting future business with Arizona companies while banning most city travel to Arizona, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Silly you. You thought the Three Stooges were dead. Now there are 13 of them.

The Council’s teeth-chattering revolt against common sense was led by featherweight Eddie Reyes, and abetted by Mayor I Love Me, who also should have his mouth washed out with American soap. Both have been bellowing for days that Arizona should be punished, if not worse, for tightening the border holes that illegal aliens crawl through.

Eddie My Boy is an obscure Councilman, which tells you where we are going.

Eddie My Boy saw a juicy opening last month when Arizona passed its controversial immigration law. Quickly as he could say “I am tired of being obscure,” he darted through the opening, sprinting out into the big, wide, wonderful world of endless newspaper and television publicity, all the while tearfully crying loudly, “All Latinos-Chicanos-Hispanicos are victims. By Ricky Ricardo, we aren’t going to take it anymore.”

Mr. Reyes, the leading contender for the Dumbest Latino in Los Angeles This Year award, has locked arms with Mayor I Love Me for the last three weeks, trying desperately to arouse the Latino populace into closing its fist and exploding.

Mr. Reyes is determined to penalize Arizona, and especially all of the people he regards as racists who agree with the state legislature that intends to crack down on illegal immigrants. Slow of mind, evidently, Mr. Reyes does not care how much law-abiding Latinos in Arizona are hurt by his attention-seeking tantrum.

Mr. Reyes either willfully lied or was too dense to be a spokesman for anyone beyond a pack of one-legged donkeys when he told the Times today:

“Los Angeles is the second-largest city in this country, an immigrant city, an international city. It needs to have its voice heard. As an American, I cannot go to Arizona today without a passport. If I come across an officer who’s having a bad day and feels that the picture on my ID is not me, I can be … deported, no questions asked. That is not American.’’

If Mr. Reyes can find such an officer, I will drive to his home, pick him up and take him to Mr. Reyes so that deportation proceedings can begin.
