Karen Bass, Speaker Emeritus of the state Assembly, has announced her support for Councilman Scott Malsin in his re-election bid for a seat on the City Council on the April 13 ballot.
Ms. Bass, a guest at yesterday’s Mayor’s Luncheon at the Vets Auditorium, called Mr. Malsin “uniquely qualified to guide Culver City during these difficult economic times.”
She cited his four years of experience on the City Council and his ability to look for innovative solutions.
“Scott Malsin is a strong leader the residents of Culver City can count on to protect their community, create new jobs and raise revenues without raising taxes,” said the first African-American woman to serve as the Speaker of the Assembly. “He has been deeply committed to improving Culver City’s parks and protecting our environment.”
The endorsement of Mr. Malsin comes on the heels of endorsements from the Culver City Firefighters Assn. and the Culver City Police Officers Assn.
In addition, Mr. Malsin has been endorsed by the Culver City Employees Assn., the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters, the Culver City Chamber of Commerce and hundreds of Culver City residents.
