Meghan Sahli-Wells, a candidate for the City Council of Culver City, won an endorsement from the Los Angeles County Democratic Party last Tuesday.

She was the only candidate in the race to be unanimously recommended by the group’s Endorsement Committee.

The Culver City Democratic Club voted the very next evening to give Ms. Sahli-Wells its sole endorsement for the City Council contest, even though the group could have voted to give endorsements to two of the four candidates.

After the candidates presented their views on a number of issues, and took questions from the audience, more than 83 percent of the eligible Democratic Club members present voted to give her their endorsement on the first ballot.

The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters chose to give Ms. Sahli-Wells its endorsement on Thursday — three endorsements on consecutive days.

The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters was formed in 1976. Its mission is to participate in the electoral process throughout the County of Los Angeles from an environmental perspective.

“I am thrilled to receive endorsements from these three important organizations,” said Ms. Sahli-Wells. “I believe the endorsements are a testimony to the support I’ve received throughout the community, from government officials, a range of community leaders, and most importantly Culver City residents, whom I hope will work with me to continue improving our wonderful town.”

An experienced community leader, Ms. Sahli-Wells says she wants to help make Culver City a better place to live, work and play. She is the co-founder of two neighborhood organizations, and she currently serves on two City Council-appointed committees: the Advisory Committee on Redevelopment; and the Culver City Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, where she acts as Vice-Chair. Her candidacy, she says, is founded on five principal goals she is fighting for: safe and vital neighborhoods, fiscal health, responsible development, green initiatives, and community participation.
