Shame on City Manager, Athletic Director and Soccer Coach

This past week in Culver City, two big realities have come to light for the citizens of this small Westside community.

One: The reality that your City Manager does not work for you. He only answers to three City Council members, the majority of Weissman, Malsin, and O’Leary.

City Manager Mark Scott is only trying to make his quick retirement money and get out.

The citizens of Culver City will have to hold these three Council members responsible for what happens in the future. Second: The Culver City High School Athletic Director and Varsity Soccer Coach do not work for the citizens of Culver City or the students.

Instead, they work for the prestige of a winning sports program that can only bring them personal fame. Unless the CIF rules have changed, winning CIF championships does not bring any more money to the School District for student education.

The issue of whether a senior student could participate with the team and in a YMCA after-school program was resolved in a way to show that the Culver City High School Athletic Director and the Varsity Soccer Coach only work for the majority vote on the School Board.

Wake up, citizens of Culver City.

Demand that the city quit hiring and retaining people who only work for their own personal gain and the benefit of only a few in the city.

Demand that the money you pay in taxes go to services that benefit all citizens of Culver City, and for the education of your children.
