Re “A Thorny East Culver City Parking Problem

I am always amused when thefrontpageonline.com prints a story that seemed based on a children's fairy tale.

The letter from Mark Birnbaum asking the city to intercede on a mixed use building makes me want to ask the question, What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Why would anyone build a building, claim that tenants have parking, inform them they must park on the street, and then blame the problem on surrounding homeowners?

The city only issues parking permits in zones that have been studied and deemed to be in need.

Why would the developer of the mixed use building not have planned accordingly or made “crappy parking” part of his rental agreement.

It is the building’s problem, not the city’s.

If anything, I do feel sorry for the tenants, who no doubt are paying outrageous rents in what used to be a modest, affordable area, but why would not the building owners man up and figure out how to handle parking for them?

Wait. That is another story:

The Emperor's New Clothes.

Perhaps this might give future builders pause for thought when they build, assuming that everyone will bike, take the bus or levitate from their units in the morning.
