Jeff Cooper, who announced his candidacy for City Council on July 6, and formally kicked off his run on Oct. 11, now has made his pursuit of the Council seat official.

Along with the three other announced candidates for two available seats — Meghan Sahli-Wells, Robert Zirgulis and incumbent Scott Malsin — Mr. Cooper has pulled his papers at the City Clerk’s office. As of this morning, only Mr. Malsin had completed his paperwork for the Aspril 13 election.

Last week, over 70 supporters joined Mr. Cooper at Menchie’s Yogurt to sign his nomination papers. Because of the large turnout, the nomination papers were completed within minutes. In addressing his supporters, Mr. Cooper, who is prominently in the center of the accompanying photo, said:

“What will they say about Culver City in 2040?

“I want to say that Culver City’s leaders chose long- term gains over easy answers. That our decisions ensured Culver City’s economic viability, which allowed our community to thrive.

“To achieve that vision, I will bring in 2010 greater accountability to City Hall, expand our economic base, and preserve our high standard of living.”

The Cooper campaign said that with about 100 days until the election, the candidate progresses, will speak and will listen to the voters, and share his vision for the community.
