Crafty or sloppy?
Which is City Councilman Mehaul O’Leary?
Or is the rising politician, in his second year at City Hall, weighing a third, much less painful, option?
That is:
It does not matter because Culver City is a small town.
Not many people pay attention.
The incident occurred within the confines of his own pub.
Besides, closing-time fireworks are not that unusual.
This morning, 3 1/2 months after Mr. O’Leary was punched into a hospital stay after being slugged by a known customer, the case ended with the patron’s no-contest plea.
The Councilman, however, never has been heard from,
After the much-disputed incident, Councilman O’Leary missed more than a month on the dais.
When he returned, it was as if Aug. 9 never had happened.
Shh, do not say a word.
We believe that as a very public figure, not to mention an elected official, Mr. O’Leary owes the community an explanation — even an apology.
In today’s accelerated world, 3 1/2 months is too long— even in Culver City — to wait for either.
Your move, Mr. O’Leary.
