Last Saturday I was sent an email from Robert Zirgulis, a School Board candidate in today’s election.
But, as I check my email once a day, I opened it on Sunday. It was an invitation to “meet me in front of Ralphs.”
He went on to say he had originally invited me through thefrontpageonline.com to meet him in front of the Westfield Shopping Center. His reason — to prove I am a “real person.”
I chose to do the ladylike thing and ignore this obvious election ploy and enjoy my weekend.
I had not planned on writing another letter about Mr. Zirgulis's obvious need to grandstand.
But his letter in the paper yesterday about having his children dress up as Acorn pimps, prostitutes and himself on Halloween crosses the boundary of good taste.
No doubt Mr. Zirgulis enjoys the spotlight as a self-described “entrepenuer” and real estate person would.
No doubt having a captive audience as a substitute teacher is also appealing.
When I vote, I will be making a choice based on who is able to do the job without auditioning for Reality TV.
I have been very impressed with Alan Elmont, Kathy Paspalis and Karlo Silbiger.
Even Gary Abrams has earned my respect.
Other than the error of allowing Jeffers Dodge off leash, Patricia Steivers has run a respectable campaign.
No matter who we choose to vote for in this city, most of us agree that what matters most is having people who are willing to behave with decorum and respect and focus on the tasks at hand.
I look forward to seeing Measure EE, the parcel tax, pass and welcoming three new neighbors to the School Board.
