I have begun to look at candidate Gary Abrams as a very serious contender for the School Board in Tuesday’s election.
When he was first introduced to us voters, mainly in this news outlet, I thought he had no possible chance.
My reasoning was that he talked mainly about the teachers and the kids, a view that can be easily interpreted as one dimensional.
He also talked about the budget cuts in an unorthodox fashion.
He questioned how the public would allow for the cuts in the first place and why the politicians were not protesting.
Mr. Abrams would make statements and allegations that would seem to be far-fetched. He has many articles in this newspaper related to him.
At one time I noticed he was being seriously attacked in this outlet. He did not buckle over. He even responded in defense of another candidate who was attacked by a person closely aligned in another candidate’s camp.
His articles are very informative and have a twist of humor to them. I never thought I would vote for him, even though I looked forward to reading his entertaining articles.
What made me to start seriously considering him was the fact that no matter what he wrote, there was no one challenging the veracity of his statements.
The story about the Culver City News did not even elicit a response from them. That’s when I realized that this guy is for real.
Unsophisticated, least articulate or knowledgeable were attempts to describe him.
If one was to examine his published articles, there is no doubt that he has researched each subject thoroughly. Even in the case of Ladera Heights, he gave a thorough answer based on the information available. No other candidate (besides Alan Elmont) knew as much about the subject.

Maybe I was uncomfortable with someone just telling it like it is.
We have gotten so used to our elected officials giving us the line just to hook us that when someone comes along and tells the truth, we get frightened.
Something must be wrong with Mr. Abrams.
The only candidate who has not gotten caught up in all the hoopla is Karlo Silbiger. He has played it safe the whole time and is a real smooth operator.
He is definitely a contender with one small flaw: Sometimeshe sounds like a politician.
Mr. Elmont has courage. He has responded to all questions about him.
Kathy Paspalis has ducked every question presented. I am not sure about Mr. Z, Robert Zirgulis, anymore. Dr. Patrcia Siever is still a puzzle for me. With all the problems the community college system is having, why is she not trying to help them?
For the Board — Mr. Abrams, Mr. Silbiger, and for the third seat, your guess is as good as mine.
