I am a long time resident of Culver City, and I have frequently attended the School Board meetings.
I am just curious.
I have read the literature and most of the articles of School Board candidates Kathy Paspalis and Mr. Alan Elmont.
I also have attended the three of the forums.
Also, I have been to several of the School Board meetings and I do not recall Ms. Paspalis standing out. I am not saying she was not present. I do recall Gary Abrams, Alan Elmont and Karlo Silbiger.
Quoting from thefrontpageonline.com, Oct. 20:
“Over the past 4 years, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Kathy as we attended School Board meetings, discussed issues facing our district and brainstormed to find innovative, cost-effective solutions.
“She continues to impress those who meet her with her intelligence, managerial skills, her ability to zero in to the heart of an issue and figure out how to solve it.
“Kathy has already served our district well by her attendance and participation at School Board meetings, her service on Site Council, and her involvement with finding answers to the elective dilemma faced by students at the Middle School.”
Quoting from the Paspalis literature:
“Met regularly with Culver City’s Superintendent of Schools to volunteer ideas and assistance, and discuss issues facing our schools.”
Maybe I have overlooked it, but I am trying to locate the part that says what ideas were accepted and implemented by the District.

“I have more experience, knowledge and understanding of the School District and of the role of the School Board than any of my competition.
“It’s about the ability to take new ideas or even discarded ones, invest them and lobby with at least two other Board members to set new policies.
“You listen to what people want to happen. Then you discuss ways in which it can happen, or ways in which we can find work-around when those are needed.”
Mr. Elmont, who made the above statements, is best known for his perfect attendance record at School Board meetings and six years on the budget committee.
I repeat the same question. Maybe I have overlooked it, but I am trying to locate the part that says what ideas were accepted and implemented by the District.
Which makes me wonder:
Are the newly elected Board members and Measure EE expected to rescue the School District from all that ails it?
For the sake of all involved, I hope not.
