With Mother’s Day weekend at hand, in Culver City that has come to mean it is  time for George Barris’s “Cruisin’ Back to the ‘50s” car show.

On Saturday from 9 to 3, amidst a gala  environment for the sixth year in a row, hundreds of classic automobiles will be  showcased along the main arteries of Downtown.

For the duration of the show, as has become traditional, the flow of outside traffic  will be halted.

Sponsored by the Exchange Club, the producer of the  show  is Mr. Barris, who created Hollywood classics such as the “Batmobile” and the “Munsters' Koach.”

Along with 400 competition classic cars and hot rods from all over Southern California, the show will feature several of Mr. Barris's television and movie car creations.

Each classic car and hot rod entrant will be judged in a variety of categories ranging from best roadster to mightiest muscle car and coolest convertible.

The show, headquartered on Culver and Washington boulevards between Duquesne and Ince, will swing to the classic — there is that word again — tunes of rockabilly legends the Collins Kids along with Deke Dickerson and the Dynatones.

Corporate sponsors include Symantec, Meguiar's, Mattel, the Redevelopment Agency and radio station K-Earth 101.  All proceeds will benefit local children’s  charities.
