Culver City inched closer to selecting a new City Manager yesterday.

Meeting at the Courtyard by Marriott on Bristol Parkway, Fox Hills, the City Council devoted the entire working day to interviewing the six semi-finalists.

While no Culver City candidates survived the cut, the remaining field is working or has worked in California.

A source said that the Council members agreed that it is a strong group, and they are in accord on those who comprise the cream of the field.

On Sunday, the scene shifts to an otherwise empty City Hall.

Stamping their actions with a sense of urgency, the five Councilmen will be joined by perhaps a dozen members of City Hall’s executive management team.

Separately, the department heads will quiz the finalists.

Then they are expected to relay their findings to the Council members, who will assimilate new perspectives with what they learned yesterday.

Led by Mayor Scott Malsin, the Council then will take one last plunge into probing the minds of the survivors.

Although no specific time frame has been identified for appointing a successor to the retiring City Manager Jerry Fulwood, a decision is expected next week..
