Funeral arrangements for police Sgt. Curt Massey have not yet been finalized, the Police Dept. said late this afternoon. The 41-year-old Culver City veteran and father of three small children was killed shortly before dawn on Wednesday morning. A young wrong-way driver on the Santa Monica Freeway smashed into Sgt. Massey’s eastbound car, ending both of their lives. The killer driver was traveling so fast the police officer did not have time to veer out of the way.
