If you step out your back door this afternoon, anywhere on the Westside, you will hear two desperate cries volleying through the chill air:

• There must be an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza, and Israel must agree to a cease-fire.

• Israel’s devastating strikes on densely populated Gaza are wildly “disproportionate.”

If you will pardon my confusion:

Since the Hamas terrorists who govern Gaza officially are sworn, by their charter, to destroy Israel, why are the Good Guys being encouraged to drop their weapons in the middle of administering a onesided thrashing to the Bad Guys?

So that Hamas can catch up?

How will we know when they have?

Who gets to decide? Caroline, You Know, Kennedy?

Who ever heard of stopping a war in the middle because the Arabs need to catch their filthy breaths?

Professional basketball has a 20-second timeout. But war? I will check the War Rulebook, starting on the page headlined “Preferred Strategies for Ending Wars When Jews Are in the Lead.”

Do Hamas and its millions of Jew-hating non-Arab supporters worldwide think this is a video game they can stop and start at will?

Should Israel conscript 85-year-old ladies and crippled people in wheelchairs and post them on the front lines so that the dead-eyed Arab criminals won’t have to be concerned with shifting targets?

How About a Dopey Racist?

Should Israel recruit the inept Mayor of New Orleans, Ray (I Only Am a Whitey-Hating Racist in Public) Nagin, to take charge of the air strategy, thereby guaranteeing that Israel will lose all current advantages and be blown out of the water.

Should Israel fight with one gun tied behind its back?

As a non-veteran of war, how will I know when Hamas has caught up so that Israel can resume its spanking of the criminals?

Because, like our liberal friends, we strive to be fair, and because, like our feminist friends, we strive to be egalitarian, whom shall we select to arbitrate?

The big, brave Arab bully boys — who prance around in children’s masks as a license to misbehave, who cut off the heads of people who disagree with them — probably are scratching their own insecure heads now, trying to think up a fair and balanced referee.

The Anti-Voice of Reason

How about Ban Ki-sun, the latest psycho to serve as United Nations Secretary General?

An admitted anti-Semite, he did not call for a cease-fire until he heard last Saturday that admirably patient Israel, fed up with the thousands of rockets that have been fired from Gaza, had decided to swing back and attack Hamas.

To be fair, where does the dime-sized psycho stand on the U.S. war in Afghanistan?

His response was predictable.

Since he perceives the Taliban to be either even or ahead, the whack job sees no need to intervene. Can you imagine this rapacious runt approaching Osama and telling him that the United Nations has voted to take a timeout in the Afghan war?

Just guessing, but I doubt the convivial Osama would reply, “No problem, Ban Baby. Where do I deposit my machine guns, rockets, missiles and assorted weaponry? In a little box?”

Likelier, Osama would launch Ban Baby. Odds are 50-50 he would land in Israel, Gaza or both.

‘The Obama Times’ Strikes Again

Thankfully, we don’t have to resort to the puerile psycho for received wisdom, not as long as we have that asylum of objectivity down the street, the Los Angeles Times.

Unsurprisingly, the Wall Street Journal has done, by far, the best reporting in the country on Israel-Gaza.

The Times has been the most dishonest, pounding its chest for an instant cease-fire while slanting each day’s stories to serve up a steady diet of pity parties for Hamas.

The Times perfected the art of slobbering during the Obama campaign. Yesterday morning, Dickie Boudreaux, one of the Times’ lightest weight reporters, slobbered over a Gaza family that suffered a true tragedy, losing five daughters in the war.

Isn’t sympathy reasonable? you ask.

The family lived next door to a mosque where the good, ol’ boys from Hamas had stored enough weaponry to take over two countries simultaneously.
When an Israeli missile struck the mosque, it triggered the desired Hamas result. Nearby ”civilians” were killed — just as Hamas cunningly had planned it.

Mr. Boudreaux only related selective shards of the story to gin up sympathy for his favorite side in the war.

One of the important points the bean-counter ignored is that a surviving daughter of the Balousha family went before the cameras directly after the grisly discovery. Unequivocally, and bravely, she declared that Hamas was responsible for the massacre of her siblings.

No newspaper with Times in its name reported that amazing fact.
