Cary Anderson, one of the more vocal community activists — especially since the Skateboard Park opened in the autumn — is the latest resident to enter this spring’s race for the City Council.
He often has employed his ever-present video camera to capture what he regards as untoward events that should be corrected by City Hall.
Three of the five Council seats will be open in the April 8 election.
Deadline for participation is at hand. All candidates must have completed their paperwork by the end of the business day on Friday.
Dep. City Clerk Ela Valladres anticipates a late-hour rush. Only half of the contenders have met all of the document requirements.
First-time candidates Randy Scott Leslie and Gary Russell turned in their paperwork today.

The unsigned group includes Mr. Anderson, Dr. Loni Anderson, Christopher Armenta, and Jeff Cooper.
Mr. Anderson is known in Council Chambers, where he has been a regular presence for months, as the man with the video camera.
A television cameraman professionally, he has been a harsh critic of the City Council for failing to take clampdown action against hundreds of skaters at the always-busy Skateboard Park for refusing to wear safety equipment.
