There Is No Rush

Dr. McGaughey informed the School Board very late one evening after a meeting in April that she intended to retire as of July 31. Whether the decision merely was merely being pondered or there was another, unknown description of the next two months, virtually nothing was done about securing a replacement. The process of naming a successor is turning into a deliberative strategy. Even Dr. McGaughey’s retirement party, on Friday, July 28, was announced to the community before a move was made to appoint a stand-in. In an earlier announcement, District officials indicated that applications will be accepted until Sept. 15, well after the start of the new school term. The District made it obvious that it was in no hurry to select a permanent Superintendent by saying that the appointment “could occur as early as November.”
