Charges involving carrying a gun and gang involvement also have been lodged against Mr. Covarrubias.
He is being held at the County Jail in downtown Los Angeles.
Last year in New Mexico, he drew a ten-year sentence. Police said that term is expected to be superceded if he is found guilty in the case of the Boshes.
Police believe that Mr. Covarrubias fled to New Mexico two years ago to avoid prosecution in the Bosh brothers case.
Originally tracked down in West Los Angeles, Mr. Covarrubias made one court appearance. He was scheduled to make another when he came up missing.
Although the Bosh brothers’ suspect had begun serving his federal sentence, Asst. Police Chief Hank Davies said he only will be returned to complete his term if he is not convicted here.
