Every Week

The Thursday night concerts in July and August feature a blend of world music and America’s musical sounds and styles with parking and dining available throughout Downtown Culver City.

Since its formation, the John Jorgenson Quintet has been recognized as a soulful mainstay of the American gypsy jazz movement.

Mr. Jorgenson, the group’s founding member and namesake, dazzles audiences with not only his masterful guitar playing, but virtuosity on clarinet and vocals as well.

His Resume

One of the original Rhythm Brothers, Mr. Jorgenson is also renowned for his work in the Desert Rose Band and the Hellecasters.

He toured with Elton John for 6 years, demonstrating his considerable skill as a featured player on acoustic, electric, and pedal steel guitar, saxophone, mandolin and on vocals.

In 2005, he appeared as gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt in the feature film Head in the Clouds.

Together, he and the quintet bring to life the classic compositions of gypsy jazz favorites, while pushing the traditional boundaries with their own original compositions. The quintet is made up of fantastic musicians from Nashville, featuring the sounds of hot viola and upright bass.

The rest of the schedule:

Aug. 30 — Closing Night, the Thursday before Labor Day, will spotlight another popular return attraction, the rock, blues, jazz, Cajun and country tones of the Carl Verheyen Band.
