In other news, I noted that the Venice Film Festival will be holding a special screening of a documentary, titled “Savages,” on Wednesday. The festival is dedicated to celebrating the substantial role that Venice (California) has played in film production. Of interest to Venice film buffs, the Backlot Film Festival will be screening “Cisco Pike,” the 1972 film noir starring Kris Kristofferson as a burnt out musician blackmailed by a crooked cop (Gene Hackman). The film was shot in Venice. You will see the crumbling Ocean Park Pierin the background, which was completely destroyed in 1974.

I want to thank the sponsors of The Backlot Film Festival including The Front Page, the Greater West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Alliance Bank, Walter Marks Realty Inc., Damian Gerrard Curran and Associates, San Gennaro Cafe-Brentwood and the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills.
