Some of those with the main march who tried to protect the counter-marchers were treated with the same disdain as the counter-protestors, mostly Vietnam veterans and family members of those serving in the current war.
C-Span chose to only cover the anti-war protest, not the Gathering Of Eagles, Rolling Thunder and other groups who are protecting the war memorials and supporting the troops.
Time for a Boycott
I call on all of my fellow veterans to shun interviews with C-Span in the future unless a formal apology is rendered. Further, any news organization that slants coverage, pro or con, should be shunned and denied interviews in the future.
We do not demand favorable Coverage.
But we should demand the truth.
During the Vietnam War, we were shouted down by a verbal minority.
We have but one response this time:
Never again!
Maj. Mark A. Smith, U.S. Army (ret.), served in Vietnam and Cambodia, and he was a Prisoner of War.
