The Culver City High School boys’ basketball team will travel to Santa Monica on Friday to take on a very good Viking team that is 11 and 4.

Tip off is 7:30. Culver City has a record of 4 and 10, but has lost six close games.

The Centaurs, coached by Adam Eskridge, are led on the court by seniors Justin Montgomery, Julius Wilson and junior Chris Edwards. Montgomery has the highest scoring average, 10.9 average per game followed by Edwards at 9.4 and Wilson is averaging 5.5.

If the Centaurs expect to compete in the tough Ocean League, Wilson will have to score more points.

Wilson, who was one of the top football players this past season, needs to average at least 12 points per game if Culver City expects to keep pace with powerful Santa Monica and Inglewood.

The Centaurs will host Inglewood pm Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 7:30.

The Culver City girls’ basketball team also will travel to Santa Monica on Friday, playing at 6 o’clock. The girls’ situation is the opposite of the boys. The lady Centaurs are 9 and 4, the lady Vikings, 1 and 12.

Julian Anderson coaches the lady Centaurs.
