13th Union Backs Feuer’s Campaign for City Attorney

Mike Feuer received an endorsement today from the Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District Lodge 947 in his bid to be the next city attorney of Los Angeles.

“As a lawyer and lawmaker, Mike has a proven track record of fighting for middle class jobs,” said Janet Schabow, District Lodge 947 Business Representative.

“He understands the importance of fair wages and good working conditions. He understands that a strong middle class is key to the future of Los Angeles.

“As City Attorney we know we can count on Mike to defend workers’ rights, promote the expansion of jobs, protect our neighborhoods from crime and keep our schools safe. We are pleased to give Mike our enthusiastic endorsement.”

Mr. Feuer, termed out in the state Assembly, promised not to disappoint his backers.

“As City Attorney I will fight to keep our communities safe, stand up for workers' rights and improve the quality of life in L.A.'s neighborhoods,” he said. “Together with the Machinists and Aerospace Workers, we are committed to fairness, equality, and protecting and growing our middle class.”

Beyond this announcement, Mr. Feuer’s list of endorsements from organized labor groups including: United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 770, UNITE HERE Local 11, California Nurses Association (CNA), UA Local 78 Plumbers, Laborers (LiUNA) Local 777 United Public Employees of CA, Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1277, United Steel Workers (USW), Communications Workers of America (CWA) Southern California Council, Operating Engineers (I.U.O.E.) Local 501, Transportation Communication Union (TCU) Local 1315, Utility Workers Union of America Local 132, and the Iron Workers Local 416.
