Re “PXP Community Meeting on Study – Nobody Is Budging”
Two views of last evening’s PXP community meeting on its one-year study on fracking by two leaders of the Citizens Committee for a Safe Community:
Gary Gless
My take is that PXP and the industry want to use this flawed study and piggyback on it, to frack up and down California on what I can see is inaccurate and selective science.
The only enlightenment I got at last night’s meeting was the inability for the expert to give any answers to the hard-hitting questions posed. Overall, I'm very proud of what I saw that the community could see thru there PR bologna, and they don't want fracking period.
My opinion about the study hasn't changed. I knew they would say it was safe. The devil is in the details.
Now it's time for the community to put the pressure on the elected officials as the other agencies and residents chime in with their informed and substantiated concerns. Our quality of life is at risk here and it's a shame we have to fight so hard to protect it.
Paul Ferrazzi:
Was last night's meeting worthwhile?
Of course, it was. The presentation of a study that was the result of 2 1/2 long, arduous years of Settlement Agreement meetings, which included the unusual participation of the California Attorney General’s office as arbiter.
Did you learn anything new?
The presentation was not a learning experience. It was a presentation made by an industry-friendly fellow polishing his Ph.D.
But I did learn something new here:

Did any information surprise or disappoint you?
No, I guess I must have been one of only a few who actually took the time to read the repetitive, cut-and-paste, find-and-replace, hastily put together pro- fracking treatise.
It was what you would expect the conclusions of Cardno-Entrix would be, given their client list.
The East Coast peer review read like the elementary school grading of a book report.
Was the gap between the people and PXP bridged at all?
You were there. You saw the reaction. You tell me.
Here is a joke for you.
Q: How can you tell when an oilman is lying?
A: When his lips are moving.
