Fellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans:

Why, oh why, must the Dept. of Veterans Affairs be so ruthless, cold-hearted and inhumane toward our disabled and homeless Veterans?

Attached in a pdf below is a photo summary from yesterday afternoon shortly after the end of our 238th consecutive Sunday Rally to “Save Our Veterans Land” and to “Bring Our Homeless Veterans HOME.”

Less than a half-block from the locked front gate to the largest VA in the nation where empty buildings are abound, I witnessed a disabled person slumped over in his wheel chair that was parked partially in the street.

I stopped to see if I could help. He is a disabled Vietnam War Veteran and has absolutely no interest in going to the VA. (This is a normal reaction.)

I gave him a couple bucks and helped him get onto the sidewalk. He kept thanking me for being concerned about his well-being. Contrary to the VA bureaucrats and local ingrates who claim “they want to be homeless,” these men and women already have a legally deeded Home that is being stolen away by the self-serving robber barons.

Shortly after leaving, I drove back. I saw him sitting in total despair, head in his hands. I feel so helpless every time I encounter these way-too-frequent, unwarranted situations.

At a Sunday Rally a few weeks ago, I found a homeless Veteran on the Wilshire Boulevard sidewalk. I called the VA and paramedics. They did absolutely nothing and left. The only thing the VA cop was interested in was if he had any outstanding warrants.

We need an emergency tented shelter encampment on the front lawn run by Veterans and volunteers, not VA employees.

I am confident we can make a big difference. http://www.westsidetoday.com/n8011/bring-our-homeless-veterans.html

On Dec. 10, 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 5 declares: “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” Let's file a complaint with the United Nations since a cowardly federal judge bailed out on helping disabled and homeless Veterans and ruled in favor of the inhumane VA.

Stand up and speak out for those who can't stand up and have no voice. By the VA's own admission, 47 percent of today's homeless Veterans are Vietnam Era Veterans.

Moreover, speak out against U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Westside) and U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Ca) for failing to serve our disabled and homeless Veterans with proper supportive housing at the largest VA in the nation under their stewardship.

Both support a wealthy homeowner group to build a “rent-free” public park where we want to build an emergency homeless Veteran shelter.

Vote for Independent Bill Bloomfield on Nov. 6 for the 33rd Congressional District.

Henry Waxman has been in office since the end of the Vietnam War 37 years ago. His dereliction of duty has caused Los Angeles to be our nation's capital for homeless Veterans under his “watch.”

God Bless America and the Veterans Revolution!
