Regarding Saturday morning’s Global Frackdown event, 10 o’clock to 12 noon, in the Courtyard of City Hall, 9770 Culver Blvd., that is part of a universal coordination:
Five continents will be participating in the first ever Global Day of Action to ban fracking and fuel the future with renewable clean energy.
While there are so many issues facing us today, fracking is among the most crucial.
Most citizens are not aware, but it will permanently change our lives by polluting our drinking water, ground water and air, triggering earthquakes, cancer and respiratory diseases, vibration damage to homes and storage of hazardous waste.
We have heard about this throughout the country, but swiftly and silently, the oil companies have moved into California.
It is happening here – in five oil fields in Los Angeles, plus Bakersfield, Sacramento, Monterey, Newport Beach, Hermosa Beach.
Oil money is huge. Our politicians are under their influence.
Halliburton and the oil companies spent $747 million lobbying the Congress to exempt fracking from the Safe Drinking Water and Clean Air Acts.
There is no regulation of fracking in California. Only a mass outcry is going to make a difference.
To preserve our environment, fracking must be banned.
Join us tomorrow.
Free parking is available on Cardiff Street just off Culver Boulevard.
