If Sept. 7, a week from Friday, is the day that Patt Morrison walks the last mile at KPCC (89.3), expect an angry throng of supporters to ring the Moen Broadcast Center.
Patt is a big loss. The way hollywoodhighlands.org sees it:
With Ms. Morrison out of the public radio political interview picture, her comrades Larry Mantle and Warren Olney won’t be able to scrape up sufficient courage between them.
Mr. (Kevin) Roderick of (laobserved.com), you are such a diplomat, much too chicken to voice an opinion about Patt’s cruel fate one way or another.
Let’s get this straight. According to Russ the Office Boy (Russ Stanton, KPCC vice president), blog reaction to Patt walking the KPCC plank has been “mixed.” Sure, like six of one and a half-million of the other.
That is nonsense. Blog reaction has been near unanimous.
Veepee for Content Russ Stanton says we’ll continue to hear Patt’s signature reports, “including some new ones,” meaning from now on the majority of Patt’s reports to be heard at KPCC will be old ones.
The consolation prize? Whoopee. Patt hasn’t lost her once-in-awhile position playing straight man to that gang of crazy cut-ups at Comedy Caravan.
The chronically politically incorrect have begun to call Patt in the Hatt’s partial replacement, Brand and Martinez, “The Wonder Woman Meets Cisco Kid Show.”
To be sure, the day that Patt Morrison’s KPCC contract expires, her not-inconsiderable tush will get booted right out of “The Low Moan Broadcast Center.”
The rest is silence.

We appreciate hearing from you, and we greatly enjoy the passion you bring to the discussion about our programming. I’d like to answer a couple of questions some of you have asked.
First, Patt Morrison isn’t leaving. Beginning the week of Sept. 10, you’ll continue to hear her signature reports – and some new ones – in her same engaging voice and in her unique style. These segments will be spread out over more hours in our programming day and in many cases in front of larger audiences.
Patt also will continue to host the wildly popular Comedy Congress live-event series and will be a visible (and audible) part of KPCC.
Second, there have been some questions about Marketplace — it will stay where it is in the morning and evening lineups.
Given our track record of providing high-quality programming over the past 12 years, I hope that you’ll give the expanded Brand & Martinez show and the BBC Newshour a listen, and that you’ll enjoy Patt far beyond the hours of 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
