Hello UPCC members,

In a recent online article, Ari Noonan publicly calls on UPCC to respond to events at a recent school board meeting. There was a resolution on the agenda, opposing fracking and supporting a bill (AB 972) in the California Assembly which has already been endorsed by the City Council. During the meeting, Patricia Siever and Nancy Goldberg said that they hadn't read all of the bill, and voted no on the resolution, which was subsequently passed after being amended to leave out mention of AB 972. The text of AB 972 is attached to Ari's earlier piece describing the meeting.

Video of the meeting is available here:
(http://www.ccusd.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=42334&type=d&pREC_ID=video) and I would ordinarily suggest you watch it for yourselves, but (as of today) there's no sound in the online video for that meeting.

Ari's article is very critical of Patricia Siever and Nancy Goldberg, and asks “Are you listening… United Parents of Culver City ?” I think it's reasonable for Ari to ask UPCC to comment, but since the next School Board election is more than a year away, there's plenty of time to consult with our members before answering him. So… I'd like to get opinions from you folks before I send him a response. Please send me email (steven.levin@ca.rr.com) with your comments.
