City Hall Is Dressed up in a Happy Face

By 10:30 last evening among the tiny crowd that remained for the end of the City Council meeting in the Rotunda Room of Vets Auditorium, not a doubter remained.

For the third straight time on the Council’s Across Culver City tour to test residents’ feelings about a half-cent sales tax increase on the November ballot, the response was a chorus of vigorous yesses.

Since City Hall began probing community attitudes last Monday, objections almost have been invisible.

With two special meetings remaining – back in Council Chambers next Monday and at Lin Howe School on Monday, July 9 – the happy-face findings validate a community survey taken last month.

The poll reflected lopsided support, bordering on enthusiasm.

On Monday, July 16, the City Council will take a unanimous vote that will certify the proposition for the Presidential election.

It is expected to carry a sunset provision.
