I have put together a summary of fracking safety issues that affect Culver City and the Baldwin Hills that will be discussed Thursday evening, from 7 to 9, at an educational; event and activist prep meeting.

Tomorrow’s meeting is being held in anticipation of Gov. Brown’s hearing on the subject of fracking in Culver City, Tuesday, June 12, from 7 to 9, at City Hall.

Do you know:

• Hydraulic Fracturing is triggering earthquakes?

• There is an active 7.4 quake line nearby?

• Whether/where to evacuate if drilling triggers a toxic event? Or how to shelter-in-place?

• Neither the city nor property owners are indemnified from personal costs to our health, safety and property damages that may result from horizontal drilling and oil extraction in areas near and under our homes?

• Culver City is preparing Municipal Code changes regarding oil and gas extraction in Culver City by the Plains Exploration & Production Co. Our City Council needs our input now. Don’t forget that on Tuesday, June 12, the state is holding a Fracking Hearing at City Hall to hear our concerns as it creates hydraulic fracturing regulations.

To maximize meaningful public input to get State and municipal regulations prioritizing public safety, come attend a fact-filled preparatory event that I will be hosting Thursday evening at 10708 Northgate St., Culver City 90230.

Join Culver City citizens committed to empowering the community to be pro-active in assuring upcoming legislation protects the people.
