I have been a clinical hypnotherapist for more than 21 years, and still, everyday is eye-opening. I see what others only dream.

I became a hypnotist after hearing a commercial on the radio asking if listeners liked to help people. Check.

Did I want extra income? Check.

Would I like to be eligible for a student loan? Check.

I went to the school, liked what they had to offer and enrolled on the spot. I spent 700 hours training to become a clinical hypnotherapist.

I learned and I understood what suggestibility is. Various behaviors by different types of people were taught. We learned about the Theory of the Mind, a variety of techniques on hypnotizing, and why some people hypnotize more easily than others.

My training included undergoing six separate hypnotherapy sessions to understand what it was like and to become familiar with the therapy process from a client’s view. I was astounded by the results.

At that time I had been suffering debilitating panic and anxiety attacks since I was 6 years old.

I since have found that is a common starting age.

As an adult, my attacks became so serious that once when attending a circus with my wife and children, I suffered a severe one. Stuck in my seat, I was sweating and extremely scared. The circus strong man rescued me. I never will forget.

When he helped me from the tent, I realized my attacks were out of control. My medication turned me into a temper tantrum monster. It only masked the symptoms.

Like many, I had reached an impasse. The attacks were becoming stronger and more frequent, and the cure was worse than the ailment.

I chose to work on panic and anxiety, and after three hypnotherapy sessions, my attacks were mostly gone. After six, they had vanished. I will always be grateful to the hypnotherapist who helped me back. He changed my life the way I have had the good fortune of doing for others.

I Can’t Lose Her?

For example:

My second ever client had a relationship issue. They dated for two years before she ended it, and now he was in pain. He could not get her out of his mind. Work was suffering. His concentration was gone. When he came home from work, he stayed. He sat and moped.

I hypnotized him. Placing my finger on his forehead, I suggested when I gently tapped his forehead, he would mentally release his ex-girlfriend. I had no idea what I had let myself in for. His body arched significantly, heels pushing hard against the recliner chair footrest, the back of his head pressed against the headrest.

Tendons in his neck stood out. He unwound a scream that startled me because it seemed to go on unabated for two minutes.

The scream ended because he ran out of breath. Collapsing into the chair, he was . He was also covered in sweat.

When he was once again fully conscious, he did not know what I had done but he felt better than he had in a long time. That was the turning point. With her out of his system, he moved on. He never came to see me again.

Do You Remember?

Another client was having memory problems. Initially not one of my greater successes, he called me an hour before his second session because he had forgotten how to get to my office. After six sessions, he understood why he was having memory issues.

He was quite busy, was holding down two jobs, going to school, cleaning the house, looking after his invalid wife and their newborn child. He was so overloaded that he was just reacting to everything, As with others, six sessions gave him a strong handle on what he was doing and how to reorganize. His memory returned when he was not as overloaded as he had been.

One last story: A gentleman was having trouble on his job. He had been given a set of keys with strict instructions not to lose them. He lost them. a complete state of panic. His job was endangered. I hypnotized him and had him observe his day from a third party perspective. That way, he saw what he had done with the keys. Immediately after, he ran from my office, called me 20 minutes later with the keys. Problem solved, job saved.

This is a helping profession that will keep you on your toes. I truly love what I do, seeing a client’s face when he or she is achieving the desired results.
