15 Layoff Notices Given Out at City Hall

City Hall was a little sadder this afternoon after upwards of 15 employees this morning received their anticipated layoff notices.

At least some are expected to be retained. An unknown number were offered the option of remaining on staff in different positions.

The identical sentimental downbeat scene is being played out in 400 California communities this spring.

All of Culver City’s casualties and the aforementioned 400 towns are victims of Gov. Brown’s decision last year to kill off Redevelopment Agencies and funnel their funding into his perpetually hungry coffers.

On a day when Cultural Affairs was hard hit, the news did not come as a shock.

All of the detached positions were funded through Culver City’s defunct Redevelopment Agency, and the waiting game began the day Agencies died on Feb. 1.
